Sunday's NFC Championship wasn't exactly what one would call enjoyable for Minnesota Vikings fans since it ended with the team's former quarterback, Sam Darnold, leading the Seattle Seahawks to an appearance in this season's Super Bowl.
It clearly wasn't enjoyable for any current members of the Vikings either, especially those who were part of the 2024 squad that had Darnold as its starting signal-caller.
After the Seahawks defeated the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship on Sunday, Minnesota edge rusher Jonathan Greenard shared a very simple post on his X account that spoke volumes about how he felt watching Darnold lead another team to the Super Bowl.

Minnesota Vikings fans know exactly what Jonathan Greenard's reaction to Sam Darnold means
Greenard didn't include a single word in his reaction, but the message behind his post was still heard loud and clear by Minnesota's fan base.
It's safe to say that he likely felt disbelief that Darnold was able to lead Seattle to a Super Bowl appearance less than a year after the Vikings decided to part ways with him following a 14-win season.
We don't know if Greenard was fine with Minnesota choosing J.J. McCarthy over Darnold. But just like almost every member of the Vikings fan base on Sunday, he was likely wondering about how different things could have been in 2025 if the team chose to keep Darnold around for at least one more season.
To be fair to Greenard, he also shared a photo of Darnold on his Instagram story with the quote "Hooper: Go get one 👑" in support of Minnesota's former quarterback.

The Vikings missing the playoffs in their first year without Darnold already looked bad. But the fact that he managed to lead his new team to a spot in the Super Bowl makes Minnesota's decision-makers look incredibly foolish.
Obviously, there's no way to tell if Darnold would have been able to lead the Vikings down a similar path if the team brought him back for the 2025 campaign. But it's still incredibly hard not to think about how Minnesota could have possibly been the team celebrating an NFC Championship win on Sunday if they decided to re-sign Darnold back in March.
