According to court records obtained by Heavy's Trevor Squire, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison was arrested in Tampa Bay, Florida, in the early hours of Monday morning. Seminole Indian Police reportedly arrested Addison at 3:46 a.m. EST on January 12, and he was charged with a first-degree misdemeanor for trespassing in an occupied structure or conveyance.

A source also told Squire that Addison was arrested at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, which is located 12 miles from the Tampa Bay International Airport. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, he was released from custody at 2:40 p.m. ET on Monday after posting a $500 cash bond.

During his season-ending press conference on Tuesday, Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell was asked about Addison's arrest by ESPN's Kevin Seifert. He said he was aware of it, but it's too early to comment on.

“I just learned about that very, very recently. So I don’t want to speculate on that in any way, shape, or form. I do think we’ve got to get as many facts and find out exactly what happened. Speculating on it at this point would be incredibly premature for me.”

Future with the Minnesota Vikings now up in the air for Jordan Addison

Addison just completed his third NFL season, and this is his third offseason incident. In the summer before his rookie season, he was pulled over for driving 140 MPH in Minnesota. In July 2024, he was arrested for DUI after being found asleep behind the wheel of a car near Los Angeles International Airport.

The latter incident was resolved legally last summer, and the NFL suspended Addison for the first three games of this season. That suspension also voided the remaining guaranteed money in his contract.

The Vikings have a decision to make on Addison's fifth-year option this spring, and a lucrative contract extension has seemed to be in his future.

According to Over The Cap, that fifth-year option for 2027 is projected to cost $17.53 million, and $30 million a year has been considered possible for Addison in his second contract. A poor 2025 campaign stands to impact that second idea now.

It's too soon to come to any absolute conclusions about Addison's future with the Vikings. But he has been regarded off and on as a potential trade candidate, and how the team will proceed in terms of his fifth-year option, etc., is even more of a prominent offseason topic after another off-field incident.
