It's no secret that the Minnesota Vikings don't have many picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. Heading into the three-day event, the team owns the right to four selections, which would be the fewest picks in a draft in team history if they don't acquire another pick.

The Vikings could make a trade during the draft to acquire more picks. The team's positioning in the first round at No. 24 overall makes them an appealing option for teams toward the end of the draft to call if they want to trade up for a prospect.

Unless there is a player Minnesota really covets in that spot, trading down could be a great option. They could acquire another pick while not losing out on a first-round talent that could develop into a contributor.

The Minnesota Vikings are in a great position for a big draft day trade

ESPN recently shared an article discussing the buzz leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft. In that piece, the Minnesota Vikings are mentioned as a team with which an AFC powerhouse couldĀ look to make a deal on Thursday.

If the Kansas City Chiefs want to jump teams like the Houston Texans and Los Angeles Rams in the first round, they could find themselves looking to make a deal with the Vikings for their pick at No. 24 overall.

At the moment, Minnesota isn't pigeon-holed into making a pick at a specific position. With that, they can be a bit more flexible with their first round pick and look to grab the best player available whether they trade down or not.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs were one game away from another Lombardi Trophy last year. The Philadelphia Eagles dominated that matchup and it could make them want to make a big move to secure a game-changing piece for their roster.

As is common with the NFL draft, if you love a prospect, you go get him. For the Chiefs, leapfrogging from No. 31 overall to No. 24 overall would make it much more likely that they get the player they scouted and really wanted in the first round.

The Minnesota Vikings could still get a quality player at No. 31 overall while accumulating more draft capital if they make a trade like this. While it would make fans wait a little longer for a pick, it might prove to be a smart move for the purple and gold.
