Last week, the Minnesota Vikings and the rest of the NFL watched as the Chicago Bears introduced Ben Johnson as the team's newest head coach. Johnson spent the last few years as the Detroit Lions offensive coordinator, and now he will attempt to bring the Bears back to relevance.

Facing the Bears recently hasn't been much of a challenge for the Vikings. But that could change with Chicago's new head coach in place, and especially if the opening round of this year's NFL Draft turns out like it was predicted in a recent 2025 NFL mock draft.

In his latest 2025 mock draft, CBS Sports's Chris Trapasso has the Bears using the 10th overall pick in the first round on former Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty. Given how successful Johnson was with Jahmyr Gibbs in Detroit's offense during the last two seasons, Jeanty could quickly become a problem for Minnesota and the rest of the NFC North if Chicago ends up drafting him.

Chicago Bears selecting Ashton Jeanty in 2025 NFL Draft would create a new problem for the Minnesota Vikings

In 14 games with Boise State in the 2024 season, Jeanty led the nation in rushing with an astounding 2,601 yards on the ground while also scoring a total of 30 touchdowns. He finished second in voting for the Heisman Trophy, and unsurprisingly, he was selected as a First-Team All-American.

Based on what he did with Gibbs in Detroit, Johnson and the Bears could potentially get more out of Jeanty in the NFL than almost any other team in the league. Chicago hasn't really had a top-five NFL running back on its roster since Matt Forte was around, but Jeanty would certainly have a good chance to put an end to that drought if he landed with the Bears.

Thankfully, the Vikings have actually had one of the league's best rushing defenses in their last two seasons with Brian Flores as the team's defensive coordinator. Flores is expected to be back with Minnesota for the 2025 campaign, so that should continue, but it would certainly be put to the test in the team's two matchups against the Bears next season if Jeanty ends up in Chicago later this year.
