The Minnesota Vikings currently hold the 18th-overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, and they could go in a number of directions with that selection.
One of those directions is Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq, whom the franchise clearly has interest in. That’s evident in Sadiq’s recent admission to OnSI's Bri Amaranthus that he had a pre-draft visit scheduled with Minnesota.
The tight end is a popular prospect, having visits with the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, and Cleveland Browns, in addition to Minnesota, so there’s a chance he could be off the board by the time the Vikings are on the clock.
If he is still available, Minnesota could add another exciting weapon to what’s already expected to be a productive offense.
Minnesota Vikings to reportedly have pre-NFL Draft visit with former Oregon TE Kenyon Sadiq
Recently, Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer referred to Sadiq as “the most intriguing player in the draft,” arguing that he has the best chance of any player in the class — tight end or receiver — to become the focal point of a team’s passing game.
That’s why franchises that know good tight end play, like the Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens, have taken a liking to the prospect.
Sadiq is 6-foot-3, 241 pounds, and ran a 4.39 40-yard dash at this year's NFL Scouting Combine. He also posted a 43.5-inch vertical jump and an 11’1” broad jump.
Because of his unique athleticism, Sadiq is considered a matchup nightmare. Also, his size and speed open the door for him to line up at tight end and receiver. That’s why analysts believe he is a dream for offensive coaches with great creativity.
Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell certainly fits that bill. Minnesota is already returning Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison at wide receiver, and they added Kyler Murray to throw the ball.
Additionally, the team still has two-time Pro Bowl tight end T.J. Hockenson on the roster. While he’s still playing at a productive level, his presence shouldn’t prevent the team from taking Sadiq.
Two tight end sets are common, and Sadiq has the potential to be much more than a traditional tight end. That’s why it’s exciting that the Vikings are getting to know all there is to know about the tight end prospect.
Now, fans must wait to see if Sadiq will be headed to Minnesota on draft night.
