The Minnesota Vikings may already have two all-time great receivers in Randy Moss and Justin Jefferson, but just how good can Jefferson truly be?
Through five seasons in the NFL, Jefferson has the most receiving yards by any player in NFL history with 7,432 yards. Moss, an all-time great, had 6,743 yards through his first five years. Only set to play in his age-26 season in the NFL, Jefferson does have an avenue to turn into an all-time great player at the position.
While he could end up coming short of Jerry Rice's all-time receiving yardage record, Justin Jefferson has exploded in the NFL and is certainly (already) on pace to be a Hall of Famer. One all-time great WR seems to think quite highly of Jefferson with some recent comments.
Minnesota Vikings legend Randy Moss thinks Justin Jefferson can be the GOAT
In a recent conversation with TMZ, Randy Moss really didn't beat around the bush when asked about Justin Jefferson, the Vikings' sixth-year wide receiver.
"I think Justin Jefferson is on pace to be arguably the greatest ever and definitely the greatest Viking to ever do it.”
I've always been a fan of a complete football player, where you can score from anywhere on the field. And Justin brings that to the table."
These are pretty bold words from Moss, who some may consider to be the greatest wide receiver of all time. In eight years with the Vikings, Moss caught 587 passes for 9,316 yards and 92 touchdowns. Across a 17-game season from 1998-2004, Moss averaged 90 receptions for 1,426 yards and 14 scores.
Through five years in the NFL, Jefferson has averaged 109 receptions for 1,641 yards and nine touchdowns across a 17-game season, so he already has all-time production.
The biggest obstacle or potential obstacle for Jefferson becoming an all-time great is being able to sustain this level of production and how long he can do it for.
He's on pace to hit the 10,000-yard mark during the 2026 NFL Season, during his age-27 campaign, so you'd think that if he could keep up this type of production until he hits 30 years old, there could be some major conversations had about him being an all-time great and maybe even the greatest all-time.
Jefferson is currently 139th all-time in receiving yards, but could get well inside the top-100 all-time with another productive year. Does Justin Jefferson have what it takes to be the all-time best wide receiver?
