Training camp has kicked off for the Minnesota Vikings, and the team is focused on preparing for the 2025 NFL season. However, it is still the time of year when experts and analysts are trying to determine which teams will be successful and which won't.

One way analysts do that is by releasing rankings. One of the most popular types of ranking articles are power rankings. comparing the franchises against each other creates a list that can get every fan interested in discussing the reasons for the rankings.

A recently published power ranking of all 32 NFL teams ahead of the 2025 NFL season won't thrill Minnesota Vikings fans.

Lou Scataglia of NFL Spin Zone recently shared a power ranking of all 32 teams now that training camp is in session for franchises like the Minnesota Vikings. However, purple and gold fanatics might not be pleased with the team's placement on the list.

Minnesota came in at No. 14 in the power rankings. That means they believe the Vikings are slightly above average team in 2025 despite winning 14 games last season and making some huge upgrades on both sides of the ball.

Here is what Scataglia had to say about the team:

"Minnesota starting JJ McCarthy does push them down this list a bit, and it's really only because McCarthy is an unknown player until he proves himself worthy or not."

What is funny is that very few fans or experts felt confident in the Vikings with Sam Darnold behind center last season and now Minnesota finds themselves in a similar situation with J.J. McCarthy preparing for his first career regular-season start.

Make no mistake that the quarterback position is one of the most important, and the play at that spot can make or break a game or season. That said, it would be interesting to know how McCarthy is viewed despite being a complete unknown.

Assuming that McCarthy is going to be a worse quarterback than Darnold and that his play will cause the team to regress is a bold take. The young quarterback is sure to make some mistakes as he grows and develops into the position, but his potential and history of success in college cannot be ignored.

Being behind the Green Bay Packers (No. 10) and Detroit Lions (No. 4) also hurts, but at least the Minnesota Vikings didn't fall behind the Chicago Bears (No. 21) to be projected to be the worst team in the NFC North.
