The Minnesota Vikings made a good first impression as the team picked up a 20-10 win over the Houston Texans in their first preseason game of the 2025 season.
All eyes were on the rookies who were making their NFL debuts. Fans were eager to see how rookie first-round pick Donovan Jackson performed against NFL defensive linemen, as well as to identify any sleeper picks from the draft who could contribute to the team's success in 2025.
Donovan Jackson, OL (Grade: C)
It wasn't a bad day necessarily for Jackson, but not the most memorable debut either. Everyone points to him tripping over Ryan Kelly as a sign of his day, but he allowed just one pressure on his only drive. Jackson needs more reps to get comfortable with playing in the NFL.
Tai Felton, WR (Grade: B)
Felton only had two targets in the game, but caught both passes for 14 yards, with both going for first downs. He made an impact on special teams as well with a tackle on punt return coverage. It was a solid day for the third-round receiver who should get more playing time with Rondale Moore's injury.
Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins, DL (Grade: C+)
Ingram-Dawkins had a solid outing as he posted one tackle while mostly lined up as an interior defensive lineman. Nothing flashy, but made enough disruption to be developing in the right direction.
Kobe King, LB (Grade: B+)
King showed great instincts and was flying around the football. He finished with four tackles and two of them being solo. Another defender trending the right way and could find himself in the rotation with more performances like that,
Undrafted Rookie Standouts
Max Brosmer, QB (Grade: B+)
Outside of his fumble, Brosmer made quite the impression on the Vikings fan base. He completed five of eight passes for 47 yards and a touchdown pass. The third-string job at quarterback could get more interesting in camp thanks to Brosmer's performance.
Myles Price, WR (Grade: B)
Speaking of the guy who caught the touchdown from Brosmer, that honor went to Price, who finished the game with two catches for 18 yards and a long of 15 yards. Moore's injury will also impact Price's reps during the preseason and make a run for a roster spot.
Silas Bolden, WR (Grade: C)
It wasn't as memorable a performance for Bolden, who had one catch for three yards, but his role is about to change on the team. Bolden had a punt return for eight yards, with Moore getting hurt as the main returner. A door has opened for Bolden to make the team if he can make a splash as a returner.
Tyler Batty, OLB (Grade: B+)
Batty finished with three tackles in the game, but his one pass deflection was an important one late in the fourth quarter as it forced an interception made by Vikings safety Kahlef Hailassie. It was a nice day overall for Batty, who showed he can still make plays if he isn't right there to make the play.
Chaz Chambliss, OLB (Grade: B)
Chambliss was second on the team in total tackles (four) and solo tackles (three). A nice showing from the former Georgia Bulldog, who will get more chances on defense in the last two preseason games.
