During the last few days, the Minnesota Vikings have added more than 20 new players to their roster after making five selections in the 2025 NFL Draft and signing more than 15 undrafted free agents on Saturday. While these players are excited and optimistic about their new opportunity with the Vikings, other members of the team know their road to making Minnesota's final 2025 roster just got harder.
Back in March, the Vikings reached a deal with veteran wide receiver Rondale Moore worth $2 million. Moore missed the entire 2024 season with a significant knee injury, so his odds of making Minnesota's final roster for the 2025 campaign have already been a bit uncertain.
Well, that uncertainty about his future with the organization only grew during this year's NFL Draft when the Vikings used a third-round pick to select former Maryland wide receiver Tai Felton. It's pretty safe to assume Felton will be part of Minnesota's final roster for next season, which means there's now one fewer spot for Moore to compete for.
Rondale Moore in danger of not playing for Minnesota Vikings next season after results of 2025 NFL Draft
While Moore's chances of making the Vikings' final 2025 roster took a hit during this year's NFL Draft, it's still possible that he could end up with a spot on the team for at least the first month of next season, thanks to Jordan Addison.
Last summer, Addison was arrested for suspicion of DUI, and most assume he will be handed a multiple-game suspension by the NFL before the start of the 2025 regular season. If this happens, then that would open up a spot on Minnesota's wide receiver depth chart until Addison's suspension concludes.
It's possible that Moore could do enough during the next few months to earn that open spot, but it's also possible that he would be the one who the Vikings would cut whenever it came time for Addison to return.
Moore finding a way to stand out in Minnesota's upcoming OTA practices and mini-camp would certainly help his chances. But, unfortunately, the knee injury he suffered last year might prevent that from happening, as some doubt was recently cast on his availability for Vikings training camp, which will likely won't begin until the end of July.
Whenever Moore is able to get on the practice field for Minnesota, it's even more clear after this year's NFL Draft that he will need to make the absolute most of his opportunities if he wants to still wants to be wearing a purple and gold uniform when the 2025 season begins in September.
