Minnesota Vikings fans are always going to hope that the Green Bay Packers struggle. That's just the nature of being division rivals. One thing that Vikings fans can maybe get excited for is that the Packers failed to add a legitimate outside corner this offseason and just got rid of their best option at the position in Jaire Alexander.
Considering cornerbacks are pivotal in slowing down the opposing offenses, not adding depth, and now parting ways with Alexander could really become a problem for Green Bay.
Following Alexander's departure, Green Bay is left with former seventh-round pick Carrington Valentine, Isaiah Dunn, and Tyron Herring, none of whom are great insurance policies, but they'll now be put to the test. Valentine has been all right when thrust into the starting spotlight, but the Packers didn't add much depth behind him, especially if the plan was always to move on from Alexander.
Minnesota Vikings fans would love if lack of CB depth tanked 2025 season for Green Bay Packers
There's been plenty of drama between Alexander and the Packers, and initially, it didn't seem promising that he'd be staying in the NFC North.
Then, the narrative shifted, and it sounded like Alexander would remain with Green Bay. Monday morning saw the narrative change again, as the saga has ended with Alexander no longer being a Packer.
Obviously, they had their reasons for doing this, but not addressing the position is something that could absolutely sink the Packers' season. They had the entire offseason to figure out what to do next at corner and could have punted on Alexander a while back, but stuck to it, and now they're in a sticky situation, which is music to Vikings fans' ears.
The Vikings have the perfect recipe to expose the Packers' now weakened secondary and are probably licking their chops at the ability to do so. They have Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison just waiting to put up crazy stats when these two teams meet twice during the 2025 season. This will be must-see TV for Vikings fans, that's for sure.
