Vikings Dream Scenario No. 5

Minnesota reaches (and wins) Super Bowl LVIII

January 9th, 1977. That was the last time the Minnesota Vikings played in a Super Bowl. It was also the fourth time the Vikes lost the biggest game of the year. Since then, there have been some close calls (six conference championship games) and plenty of heartbreak.

Die-hard Minnesota fans year in and year out have pleaded and prodded the football gods to grace them with just one Super Bowl title. Yet, each year the team finds a way to let the fans down.

The Vikings no longer have Dalvin Cook, but the team has a solid core on offense with Cousins, Justin Jefferson, T.J. Hockenson, K.J. Osborn, Mattison, and a good offensive line. Minny has also addressed concerns on defense in free agency and the draft.

It’s going to take some heavy lifting (the Vikings face Justin Herbert, Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, and Joe Burrow this year), but the team is poised to make some noise in the NFC in 2023.

Great quarterback play, a breakout year by Mattison, and a turnaround on defense can help the franchise get to the Promised Land. Then, fingers crossed that Minnesota takes its name off the list of twelve NFL franchises that have not won the Super Bowl.
