Ross Blacklock - DL

The Vikings made a trade at the end of training camp last season to bring in defensive tackle Ross Blacklock. They also released projected starter Armon Watts in that move, assuming Blacklock would be an upgrade. He was far from that.

Blacklock played in 11 games and started zero. He had two total tackles, two tackles for a loss, and one sack. His impact was so minimal that many fans forgot he was even on the team. He will need to be very impressive in training camp this year to have a shot at cracking the final 53-man roster.

He will be competing with veterans like James Lynch, Jonathan Bullard, and Sheldon Day for a spot on the depth chart. He will also have to outperform young players like Esezi Otomewo, Jaquelin Roy, and Calvin Avery. The Vikings have a limited number of spots on this team that they'll dedicate to the defensive line, and it'll be a fun battle to watch in camp.

Blacklock has plenty of potential. He was a former second-round pick out of TCU but hasn't been able to translate his collegiate production to the NFL. Maybe Brian Flores can get him to reach his potential. Right now, that seems like a long shot, and his chance of being one and done with the Vikings seems much more likely than him earning a second go-around.
