Troy Dye - LB

What the Vikings ultimately end up doing at inside linebacker will be fun to watch play out this July and August. They have options to go with a more veteran group or could decide to keep a bunch of young players who are loaded with upside and oozing with potential. If they go the youth route, then Troy Dye will not be on this final roster.

Dye is just 26-years-old as he enters his fourth season in the league. However, he has primarily been a special teams player and has accumulated just 63 career tackles. The Vikings kind of know what he is, and instead of keeping a career backup/special teamer could opt to go with an unproven player who has the potential to become a core contributor.

The Vikings have plenty of options to be just that. William Kwenkeu was an undrafted rookie a year ago who the new regime appears to be high on. This season they were able to sign Ivan Pace Jr. after the draft, and while he's undersized, he was an ultra-productive player at Cincinnati, and he plays with high energy and reckless abandon.

The Vikings only kept four inside linebackers last season, and if they do the same in 2023, Dye is unlikely to see his name on the final list.
