The Minnesota Vikings may be in the market for a new kicker, so who are some potential free-agent options they could look to sign during the 2024 offseason?

The Minnesota Vikings have long been bitten by the kicker position. 2023 was no different for Minnesota, as kicker Greg Joseph struggled throughout the season, never seeming to get into any kind of rhythm.

Joseph is now set to become a free agent, and while the Vikings could very well bring him back on a cheap contract, there are other options out there to replace him in the 2024 free-agent market.

While there are much bigger positions to fill with this free agent class, the kicker can not be overlooked, which is something Vikings fans know all too well.

Special teams are key to winning, and with kickers being a thorn in the side of Minnesota for multiple decades, there is a lot of pressure on what to do with that position moving forward.

When it comes to free agency this offseason, who are a few potential options to fill the Vikings' vacant kicker position this year?

Kicker No. 1

Nick Folk

2023 Team: Tennessee Titans

Nick Folk has been around in the NFL for some time, but he's still kicking (literally). The 39-year-old veteran has had a long and solid career, and he is set to be a free agent in 2024.

Folk first entered the league in 2007, so for him to stay around the NFL for this long, he's obviously doing something right.

Folk attempted 30 field goals last season, and he made 29 of them, with his lone miss being a 50-plus-yard attempt. Folk also attempted 30 extra points and made 28 of them.

For reference, Vikings kicker Greg Joseph attempted 30 field goals last season, and he only made 24 while also attempting 38 extra points and missing 2.

Folk isn't known for having a booming leg, and being 39 next season may not do him much help with his distance kicking, but he's shown a consistent ability to make field goals for many years now.

He won't be a flashy signing, but he's about as solid as they come, and for the Vikings, that is just fine.
