Greg Joseph looked perfect

With the Vikings in 2022, Greg Joseph knocked down a number of clutch, late-game kicks. However, Joseph also missed a total of 13 kicks last season, which is borderline inexcusable for an NFL kicker.

Minnesota surprisingly decided to re-sign him earlier this year, but they also signed an undrafted rookie kicker, Jack Podlesny, from the University of Georgia to compete with Joseph this summer.

Podlesny has been keeping pace with the veteran during this year's training camp, and Thursday's preseason game was believed to be an opportunity for both of them to compete in an actual game setting.

However, Joseph wound up being the only one to attempt any kicks for the Vikings on Thursday, and he certainly didn't waste any of his chances. Minnesota's veteran kicker knocked down his lone extra-point attempt, and he converted both of his field-goal tries, including one that was attempted from 54 yards away.

So far, it appears that Joseph has the early lead to keep his job and open up the regular season as the Vikings' starting kicker.

Jordan Addison flashes

With no Justin Jefferson, K.J. Osborn, or T.J. Hockenson out on the field, much of Minnesota's fan base was focused on what rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison would do in his first-ever preseason game on Thursday.

Addison only wound up with one catch for 22 yards against the Seahawks, but he showcased why he was a first-round draft pick earlier this year when he hauled an impressive pass on the edge of the sideline that was incorrectly ruled an incompletion.

Who knows how much more we will see of Addison this summer, but Vikings fans should be excited about how much more dangerous the team's offense could be in 2023 with him on their roster.
