Final Vikings injury report for Week 1 reveals vital Jordan Addison news
By Adam Patrick
Last month, second-year Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison suffered an ankle injury during one of the team's joint practice sessions with the Cleveland Browns.
The injury has limited Addison during the last few weeks, and after appearing on the first two Vikings injury reports this week, some wondered if he was going to be able to play in the team's regular-season opener on Sunday against the New York Giants.
Well, Minnesota revealed its final injury report for Week 1 on Friday, and it included some great news about Addison, as he was not given an injury status (questionable, doubtful, or out) after he was a full participant in the team's practice on Friday. The Vikings now know they will have their No. 2 receiver on the field this weekend in New York.
Final Minnesota Vikings injury report also reveals status of another WR before Week 1 vs. New York Giants
Addison wasn't the only Minnesota player on the team's injury report this week. Fellow Vikings receiver Jalen Nailor has been dealing with an ankle injury of his own, and he was also listed as a limited practice participant on the first two editions of the team's injury report for Week 1.
But just like Addison, Nailor was also a full participant during Friday's practice, and Minnesota did not give him an injury status for Sunday's game against the Giants either. So, after some doubts earlier this week, the Vikings will have their entire group of wide receivers available for the regular-season opener.
It will be interesting to see if Addison's ability to get open is affected at all by his ankle injury this weekend. If it's not, and he's pretty close to 100 percent health, then don't be shocked if he has a significant role in Minnesota's offensive game plan against New York.
The Vikings are without Pro Bowl tight end T.J. Hockenson for the first four games this season as he continues to recover from the torn ACL he suffered last December. With Hockenson unavailable, Minnesota will likely turn to Addison to help fill the void in the offense left by the injured tight end.
After the week began with concerns about him possibly missing Sunday's game, could the second-year receiver actually end up putting together a big-time performance in New York?
