After no players missed the team's Week 1 game due to injury, the latest Minnesota Vikings injury report revealed that Week 2 could be a completely different story.

Minnesota released the first version of its Week 2 injury report on Wednesday, and it revealed that both wide receiver Jordan Addison and linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel missed practice due to injury.

Addison's designation was expected after he suffered a new ankle injury that forced him to leave the Vikings' regular season opener before the end of regulation. But Van Ginkel not practicing on Wednesday is definitely a bit of a surprise.

Why Andrew Van Ginkel possibly appeared on the Minnesota Vikings injury report for Week 2

On the injury report that Minnesota shared on Wednesday, Van Ginkel was listed with a foot injury. This could mean one of two things.

He either sustained a new foot injury during the Vikings' Week 1 win over the New York Giants this past Sunday, or Minnesota gave him a rest day on Wednesday to continue to recover from a foot injury he suffered last season as a member of the Miami Dolphins.

If it's the latter, then there doesn't seem to be much to worry about when it comes to Van Ginkel's status for the Vikings' big Week 2 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. Hopefully, this is the case, and Minnesota's veteran linebacker didn't sustain a new injury or re-aggravate his previous foot injury in the win over the Giants.

As for Addison, his chances of taking the field against the 49ers don't seem very high. The fact that he wasn't even a participant in Wednesday's practice says that the Vikings aren't looking to rush him back.

It took a few weeks for Addison to recover from the injury to his other ankle earlier this year, so the same should be expected for his newest ankle injury. Minnesota also didn't place him on injured reserve after Sunday, which means they think he can probably return within the next three weeks, but that doesn't mean he'll be suiting up against San Francisco.

If Addison can't play in Week 2, then the Vikings will turn to receivers like Jalen Nailor and Brandon Powell to make up for his loss in production. As for Van Ginkel, that is something we'll have to keep an eye on, and his status for Week 2 could be revealed as early as Thursday when the Vikings release their next injury report.
