Earlier this month, the Minnesota Vikings decided to move on from cornerback Andrew Booth Jr. when they traded him to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for corner Nahshon Wright.

Booth was originally selected by the Vikings in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, but he struggled to get time out on the field in his two seasons with the team. Despite his struggles, the trade to the Cowboys seemed like a great opportunity for him to get his career back on the right track.

Unfortunately, much of the same has continued for Booth since being added to Dallas's roster. Some were optimistic about his potential after a decent outing in the Cowboys' second preseason game, but his struggles were back in full force in the team's final exhibition matchup on Saturday.

Former Minnesota Vikings CB Andrew Booth Jr. left off Dallas Cowboys in recent 53-man roster projection

On Saturday, Booth and Dallas took on the Los Angeles Chargers in the preseason finale for both teams. The Cowboys wound up suffering a 26-19 loss, and part of the result was due to the poor performance of the former Minnesota cornerback.

On the first play of the third quarter, Chargers wide receiver Simi Fehoko blew past Booth to haul in a pass and score a 78-yard touchdown. The former Vikings second-round pick finished his day with one tackle and one pass breakup.

Booth's chances of making Dallas's final 2024 roster already seemed slim when he joined the team earlier this month. But it's now gotten to the point where it would be a big shock if the Cowboys kept him around for the regular season, even with the recent news about the team losing starting cornerback Daron Bland for the next 6-8 weeks after undergoing foot surgery.

A final Dallas 53-man roster projection shared by The Athletic's Saad Yousuf after Saturday's game goes along with the doubt surrounding Booth, as the former Minnesota defender was not among the cornerbacks predicted to stick around for the regular season.

Had Booth had just a decent performance on Saturday, then the Bland injury might have cleared the way for him to snag a spot on the Cowboys' final roster. But it seems more likely than not that he will be looking for a new team this season when Dallas makes their final cuts on Tuesday.
