Minnesota Vikings inactives list for Week 2 game vs. San Francisco 49ers

Heading into their 2024 regular-season opener last Sunday against the New York Giants, the Minnesota Vikings roster didn't have a single player land on the team's final injury report for the week. Unfortunately, that's not the case for Minnesota's big Week 2 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.

We already know the Vikings will be without second-year wide receiver Jordan Addison against the 49ers on Sunday. Addison injured his ankle during the third quarter of Minnesota's Week 1 win over the Giants, and he didn't participate in any of the team's practices this week.

Will his absence play a significant role in how the Vikings perform on Sunday when they take on San Francisco inside U.S. Bank Stadium, or will Minnesota still be able to make enough plays without him to potentially pull off an upset over the defending NFC champions?

Minnesota Vikings Inactives vs. San Francisco 49ers in Week 2

In addition to Addison, several other members of the Vikings are dealing with injuries heading into Sunday's contest.

Minnesota safety Harrison Smith, right tackle Brian O'Neill, and Ed Ingram were all listed as questionable on the team's final injury report for Week 2. Smith is dealing with a hip injury, O'Neill wound up with the questionable status due to an injured elbow, and Ingram's status for the game is uncertain because of an injured tricep.

But on the other side of the field, we already know San Francisco is going to be without one of its top players on Sunday as well. For the second week in a row, 49ers All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey will not be playing, as he's currently dealing with a calf/Achilles injury.

On Saturday, San Francisco actually placed McCaffrey on the team's injured reserve list, so he now has to miss the team's next four games, including Sunday's contest in Minnesota, before he can return to the field.
