Minnesota Vikings rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison was cited for speeding and reckless driving on Thursday after driving 140 mph in a 55 mph zone.
Every summer before the start of training camp, the No. 1 rule for every Minnesota Vikings player, and every other player in the NFL, is don't get in trouble with the law.
Well, Vikings rookie Jordan Addison broke this rule early Thursday morning when he was cited by a Minnesota State Patrol Trooper for speeding and reckless driving after he was caught driving 140 mph in a 55 mph zone, according to KSTP-TV.
Minnesota Vikings rookie WR Jordan Addison lucky he didn't get himself or anyone else seriously injured
Driving past the speed limit is something that almost everyone with a driver's license does on a daily basis. But driving almost 100 mph over the speed limit is just incredibly stupid.
Addison should be thankful that all he got from this incident was a citation because things could have turned out much worse.
It wasn't too long ago that former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs saw his NFL career immediately come to an end after his decision to drink at drive at speeds over 150 mph resulted in the death of a 23-year-old woman and her dog in 2021.
Hopefully, this incident is a wake-up call for Addison because his time in the league isn't going to last very long if he continues to make reckless decisions outside of the locker room.
Minnesota's 2023 draft pick already had an uphill battle heading into training camp after missing the majority of the team's offseason practices due to an undisclosed injury. Now, he'll also have to deal with answering questions about the reckless decision he made on Thursday.
In response to the receiver's citation, the Vikings released a statement saying, "we are aware of last night’s traffic incident involving Jordan Addison and are gathering additional information."
