Justin Jefferson is the NFL's new No. 1 wide receiver
By Adam Patrick
According to this year's NFL Top 100 countdown, a list created by votes from players around the league, Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings is currently the best receiver in the NFL.
A little more than a year ago, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson was asked to name who he believed were the top-five NFL receivers heading into the 2022 season.
Jefferson's list included Stefon Diggs at No. 5, Cooper Kupp and Ja'Marr Chase tied for third, himself at No. 2, and then Davante Adams in the No. 1 spot.
Fast forward to now, and regardless of what the star Vikings pass-catcher believes, the rest of the league thinks that Jefferson is currently the No. 1 wide receiver in the entire NFL.
Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson given the No. 2 spot in this year's NFL Top 100 countdown
Say what you will about the validity of the NFL Top 100 list each year, but the players included in the top-10 portion of the countdown might be the most legitimate part of the whole exercise.
With that in mind, on Monday, it was revealed that Jefferson has been selected as the No. 2 player on this year's NFL Top 100 list. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was given this year's No. 1 spot.
Jefferson's ranking is the highest by a Minnesota player on an NFL Top 100 list since former Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was given the No. 1 spot on the list heading into the 2013 season.
Following a performance in 2022 that saw him haul in 128 passes for 1,809 yards and eight touchdowns. it's not hard to understand why most of the players around the league currently view Jefferson as the best wide receiver in the NFL.
What will Jefferson do in 2023 to top his performance last season? We'll have to wait and see, but one can imagine it will involve him making multiple spectacular catches and jaw-dropping plays.
