With their lone pick in the seventh and final round of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings used their selection on former UAB running back DeWayne McBride.
After not having a single pick in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft on Saturday, the Minnesota Vikings ended the third and final day of the draft by snagging former UAB running back DeWayne McBride in the seventh round with the 222nd overall selection.
The 5-foot-10, 209-pound McBride is coming off a 2022 season at UAB where he rushed for 1,713 yards and 19 touchdowns. His production last year ultimately resulted in the new Vikings running back being named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year.
Vikings News: Minnesota's final 2023 draft pick confirms inevitable Dalvin Cook exit
If anyone needed any additional confirmation, Minnesota's addition of McBride on Saturday is just the latest sign that the team is preparing to move on from veteran running back Dalvin Cook.
When Cook eventually departs, the Vikings will be left with a running back group that consists of Alexander Mattison, Ty Chandler, Kene Nwangwu, and McBride.
