A report shared on Monday revealed that Minnesota Vikings pass rusher Danielle Hunter will not be attending the team's mandatory minicamp this week.

Now that the Minnesota Vikings have decided to move on from running back Dalvin Cook, the team's focus has shifted to Pro Bowl pass rusher Danielle Hunter.

Hunter hasn't attended any of the Vikings' voluntary OTA practice sessions this year, and on Monday, NFL Media's Tom Pelissero revealed that the veteran defender will also be absent from the team's mandatory minicamp, which begins on Tuesday.

What's next for the Minnesota Vikings and Danielle Hunter?

Last week, we found out that Minnesota has been receiving calls from other NFL teams about the possibility of trading for Hunter. Following Monday's report, the Vikings sending Hunter elsewhere this offseason is certainly more believable than it was just a few weeks ago.

Currently due to make just $5.5 million in 2023, the veteran defender is hoping to land a new contract that will pay him an amount that is more comparable to some of the best pass rushers in the NFL today.

If Minnesota and Hunter are unable to agree to a new deal, the team could potentially look to trade him before the start of the 2023 season. A move like this would just further prove that the Vikings are focused on collecting assets to help build a serious contender for 2024 and beyond.

There haven't been any reports of any sort of breakdown in contract talks between Hunter and Minnesota yet. But if this ends up happening, it's possible that we might have already seen the last of the Pro Bowl pass rusher in a Vikings uniform.
