A few weeks ago, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison found himself in trouble with the law for the second year in a row when he was arrested on July 12 for suspicion of DUI after he was found asleep behind the wheel of his car near the Los Angeles International Airport.

On Monday, the Star Tribune's Ben Goessling revealed that Addison was recently charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with blood-alcohol content over .08 percent, which is more than the legal limit in California.

Both are misdemeanor charges, and according to Goessling, the Vikings receiver could "face up to six months in jail, pay fines up to $2,000 or lose his driver’s license for up to six months" if he is found guilty. Addison next has to appear in a Los Angeles court on October 7th, a day after Minnesota faces the New York Jets in a Week 5 matchup in London, England.

New details make arrest of Minnesota Vikings WR Jordan Addison even worse

Addison getting himself in a terrible situation for the second summer in a row is bad enough on its own. But the fact that his latest incident took place just a few days after Vikings rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson was tragically killed in a car accident makes Addison's arrest even more egregious.

Instead of learning from when he was cited by Minnesota police last summer for speeding and reckless driving, the Vikings wide receiver put himself in another serious situation that could have potentially resulted in something incredibly severe.

Addison should be extremely thankful that Minnesota has decided to keep him on its roster after his arrest in July, as a number of NFL teams would have likely cut him following the disappointing incident.

For some reason, the Vikings have given the young pass-catcher another chance. If Addison finds a way to get himself into serious trouble again in the future, then his time with Minnesota will not only probably come to an end, but his career in the NFL will certainly be in jeopardy.

At the very least, a three-game suspension is likely going to be what Addison receives from the NFL in the future, based on the league's substance-abuse policy. When exactly that suspension will happen is still unknown.
