In a recent re-draft of the 2018 NFL Draft, Minnesota Vikings right tackle Brian O'Neill was selected in the first round by the Philadelphia Eagles.

The 2018 offseason was an eventful one for the Minnesota Vikings. After suffering a disappointing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2017 NFC Championship, the Vikings went out and signed free-agent quarterback Kirk Cousins to a big-time contract with the hopes that he would be the final piece necessary to earn a trip to the Super Bowl.

In addition to signing Cousins, Minnesota also added eight new players to their roster in 2018 from their selections in that year's NFL Draft. With their first draft pick in 2018, the Vikings landed on former UCF cornerback Mike Hughes.

In a recent 2018 re-draft from Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport, Minnesota opted against selecting Hughes with their top pick again, and instead, they used their first-round selection on current Los Angeles Chargers cornerback J.C. Jackson. That wasn't the only Vikings-related selection in the re-draft though.

With the 32nd and final pick of the opening round in this 2018 re-draft, Davenport has the defending Super Bowl Champion Eagles using their selection on current Minnesota right tackle Brian O'Neill.

In the original 2018 draft, O'Neill was selected by the Vikings at the end of the second round (62nd overall). So Philadelphia adding him in the opening round is certainly a sign that the Minnesota offensive tackle has exceeded the expectations that came with being a second-round pick.

If the Eagles had actually kept this final selection in the first round and not traded it to the Baltimore Ravens, as they did in the original 2018 draft, this pick could have been spent on O'Neill.

The Pro Bowl Vikings right tackle spent his college career at the University of Pittsburgh, and he grew up in Wilmington, Delaware. So landing with a team in Philadelphia that plays half of their games each season close to his friends and family was probably a dream scenario for O'Neill.

But he ended up in Minnesota, and so far, his time in the Twin Cities has gone well. Currently, he's recovering from an Achilles injury he suffered last year, but he's on track to return for his sixth season with the Vikings in 2023.
