The future is completely up in the air for Minnesota native Trey Lance. Once looked at to be the future behind center for the San Francisco 49ers, it's looking likely that Lance could be traded at some point in the near future.

On Wednesday, the 49ers announced that Sam Darnold will be the No. 2 QB behind starter Brock Purdy. So, Lance, a former No. 3 overall pick, is now the third-string QB for SF? Because of this, trade rumors continue to fly around on the youngster.

Well, how about a move back home? According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Minnesota Vikings could be a team to watch moving forward for Lance. How would Vikings fans feel about this?

The Vikings feel like a team to watch for Trey Lance

It wasn't long ago that Lance was a superstar in the college ranks and San Francisco fans were thrilled about him landing in the Bay Area. With his dual-threat abilities, Lance figured to be a stud in this league.

However, injuries have prevented him from taking off and he simply has not lived up to his first-round billing. Now, it feels like a fresh start could be just what he needs to try and get things back on track.

Might that fresh start with the Vikings be an option? The Vikes are set with Kirk Cousins to run the offense this campaign, but his future with the organization feels a bit unknown as well. Behind Cousins, Nick Mullens is his backup and Jaren Hall is in town too.

With those two guys behind Cousins, Minnesota might be more than comfortable with those options leading up to Week 1. However, bringing in Lance to push the competition behind Cousins could be intriguing too. Who knows what will happen, but Lance trade speculation will be something to monitor moving forward.
