Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold is very familiar with what Daniel Jones is currently experiencing. It wasn't long ago when, like Jones, Darnold parted with a team in New York a few years after they used a top-10 draft pick on him.

So, when Darnold was asked about his reaction to the Vikings signing Jones on Wednesday, the current Minnesota starting quarterback didn't surprise anyone with his answer.

"Very happy to be teammates with [Daniel Jones]. I've spent some time with him in the past [and he's a] great guy. Just excited to get him in here and be teammates with him. He's played a lot of football, so just to be able to draw from his experience on certain things is going to help this football team."

What an incredible full-circle moment for Darnold.

In the past, he might have felt threatened by his team adding a quarterback in the middle of the season who has a ton of starting experience and was a top draft pick. But with the confidence that he's been able to build during his tenure with Minnesota and head coach Kevin O'Connell, he's viewing the arrival of Jones as just another opportunity to get better.

Darnold is literal proof that sometimes the grass is actually greener on the other side of the fence. After failing with the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers, some assumed his time in the league was going to end sooner rather than later.

But after spending a year with Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers and then signing with the Vikings, Darnold is now on track to land a lucrative contract in the 2025 offseason.

Jones has already made over $108 million in his NFL career, so landing another huge contract probably isn't the biggest motivator for him at this point in time. Now that he's in Minnesota, he's hoping to follow Darnold's lead and get closer to reaching the potential that some believed he had when he was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
