It is difficult to find a Minnesota Vikings fan who doesn't like or appreciate Randy Moss. The Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver was such an exciting and dominating pass catcher that he demanded respect every time he touched a football field.

Vikings fans aren't the only ones who got to appreciate how great Moss was. In fact, Randy's time with the New England Patriots was amazing as well, but that should be expected when pairing Moss with a quarterback like Tom Brady.

Teaming Moss up with Brady seems like it might only happen at a Pro Bowl or in a "Madden" video game, but the purple and gold legend apparently put a lot of effort into pursuing a stint in New England, and that effort clearly paid off.

Minnesota Vikings legend Randy Moss went to amazing lengths to talk with Tom Brady in 2006

During a recent appearance on the "New Heights" podcast, Brady told a story about Moss when he was a member of the Oakland Raiders that could change how some view The Freak's time with the Patriots.

In 2006, the Vikings played the Patriots in Week 8, and New England crushed Minnesota 31-7 inside Mall of America Field. After that game, Brady says Moss flew to Minnesota to the Patriots' team hotel to talk with the Hall of Fame quarterback.

“He showed up, and they are like, ‘Tommy, Randy is here.' So I went and saw him, and he is like, ‘Yo, man, I love the way you play, man. I want to, like, figure out how to make it happen,' and of course I'm like, ‘Alright, why are you talking to me? It's not like I'm the general manager.'”

Brady obviously wasn't New England's GM at the time, but he definitely had some pull. The fact that Moss expressed a desire to play with Brady in 2006 is crazy considering he wouldn't be traded from the Raiders to the Patriots until the 2007 NFL Draft.

Once arriving in New England, Moss worked out a contract restructure, and Brady converted some of his cap hit into a bonus to help make room for the star receiver.

There is no way to know exactly what happened behind the scenes, but it sounds like Brady and Moss were determined to make this partnership happen.
