It is officially time to sound the alarm. The Minnesota Vikings just might be in some serious trouble at the wide receiver position.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the Vikings are now looking at adding a veteran wide receiver via trade. This comes just days after veteran Jalen Nailor sustained a hand injury in practice, but are things much worse than we originally might have thought?

O'Connell said that Nailor apparently "jammed" his hand, but wasn't sure just how long the wide receiver would be out. Now that the Vikings are looking at trading for a veteran, that should tell us all we need to know about the current situation.

Jalen Nailor's hand injury is only part of the probelm in the Vikings' wide receiver room

Justin Jefferson should be good to go for Week 1, but it's worth noting that he was nursing a hamstring injury and for that reason has been held out of preseason play. Even if Jefferson is good to go for Week 1, the Vikings could be looking at the likes of Lucky Jackson and rookie Tai Felton as the next men up.

Don't forget, Jordan Addison is suspended for the first three games of the season, meanwhile, Rondale Moore is out for the year. Things have quickly gone from bad to worse in that wide receiver room.

With that in mind, who could the Vikings look at trading for?

It isn't likely, but someone like Romeo Doubs from the Green Bay Packers still seems like a logical trade candidate. A trade from within the division probably won't happen right now, although the Vikings and Detroit Lions have done that before (hello, TJ Hockenson).

Funny enough, the Chicago Bears also have an emerging rookie in Luther Burden as potentially their third or fourth wideout alongside Olamide Zaccheaus, and Zaccheaus would be an ideal low-cost trade candidate if the Bears were willing. Again, it doesn't seem likely.

Maybe the most logical place to look is the New England Patriots, who have an abundance of young wide receivers that they simply aren't completely sure on just yet. Stefon Diggs, Mack Hollins and Demario Douglas are locks, as is rookie third rounder Kyle Williams.

But, between Ja'Lynn Polk, Kayshon Boutte, Javon Baker, Kendrick Bourne, and undrafted sensation Efton Chism, they've got some decisions to make.

Maybe, the Vikings could poach someone like Bourne away from New England for a Day 3 pick. If they could make something like that happen, fans would feel a whole lot better about going into Week 1.

Expect a move in the coming days, though, regardless. It sounds like the Vikings are going to need someone in a hurry.
