The Minnesota Vikings finished up their bye week and then had to face the returning World Champions right away. Hosting the Philadelphia Eagles was going to be a huge challenge for the team, but it did end up being a competitive game.
Minnesota came up on the short side of the scoreboard, losing 22-28. Now, the Vikings are sitting in the basement of the NFC North, and there aren't many reasons to believe the team will turn things around any time soon.
However, before looking into the future for Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers, let's take a look back at a few players who made positive or negative contributions to the loss to Philadelphia.
Winners and losers for the Minnesota Vikings from their Week 7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles
Vikings Winner No. 1
Jordan Addison - WR
If there was one player who should feel great about their performance on Sunday, it's Jordan Addison. The young Minnesota pass catcher hauled in nine of 12 targets for 128 yards. He led the squad in targets, receptions, and yards, making him look like a target that Carson Wentz truly trusts.
Vikings Loser No. 1
Carson Wentz - QB
It would be great to look at Carson Wentz and be excited that he completed 26 passes for 313 yards and added four runs for 28 yards.
But it is the two interceptions, the fumble, and the fact that he threw 42 passes that make things frustrating. The door is definitely open for J.J. McCarthy to make his return against the Chargers if he is healthy.
Vikings Winner No. 2
Will Reichard - K
He's got a big leg and is consistent this year. Kicker Will Reichard was five-for-five on field goal attempts, including a long of 59 yards.
He also knocked an extra point try through the uprights. It's always fun when a player can score as many points as the number on their jersey. Thanks for the 16 points, Will the Thrill!
Vikings Loser No. 2
Zavier Scott - RB
A fan favorite during training camp and the preseason, Zavier Scott has struggled to be consistently effective. Against Philadelphia, he only managed four yards on the ground in four rushing attempts and added one catch for two yards. Gaining six yards on five touches isn't going to do a lot to help the team win football games.
Vikings Loser No. 3
Isaiah Rodgers - CB
Let's give some credit where credit is due. Isaiah Rodgers has been excellent leading up to the game against Philly, but he struggled on Sunday.
He owned up to his performance after the game, but he was part of the Vikings' secondary that allowed Jalen Hurts to finish the game with a perfect passer rating and three touchdowns through the air on Sunday.
