ESPN’s story on Adrian Peterson’s phone conversation with Jerry Jones, in which the Vikings’ superstar expressed his desire to play for the Dallas Cowboys, has met with a swift response from the Vikings and Peterson.

More from Minnesota Vikings News

The team said in a statement posted on Vikings.com:

"“We are focused on the 2014 season, and as we have consistently communicated, Adrian is an integral part of the Vikings organization.”"

A statement posted on behalf of Peterson reads:

"“This was a casual conversation between NFL colleagues in which I never indicated I wanted to leave the Vikings. I have always said I understand the NFL is a business but that I would love to retire as a Viking.”"

So that’s all cleared up now. Nothing to see here people. Adrian will be a Viking for life. The Vikings will never trade him or cut him to get out from under his salary.

Stuff happens, you know? Numbers get dialed, possibly in a state of inebriation. Conversations go down. ESPN overhears these conversations. Things get posted on the internet.

Stuff gets blown out of proportion.

Don’t let it ruin your day, you know? What color is Adrian wearing? Purple. So that’s it then. That settles it.

Hey, aren’t you excited to see Teddy Bridgewater play tonight? I know I am.
