Chris Kluwe appeared on the competition show American Ninja Warrior and it didn’t work out that well for him.
Maybe Chris Kluwe should stick to playing Magic: The Gathering. Clearly he is not cut out to be an American Ninja Warrior.
After training for months, Kluwe took on the grueling American Ninja Warrior obstacle course and lasted all of 12 seconds.
Kluwe actually got off to a decent start but was thwarted by a section requiring him to swing from one ring to another over a pool of water.
As a former Viking, Kluwe knows all about failing miserably while going for a ring.
Kluwe at least appears to have a sense of humor about his humiliating failure at televised Advanced Jungle Gym.
In Kluwe’s defense, that obstacle course is very very difficult. In the whole history of American Ninja Warrior, only two people have ever gotten to the end and they were both rock climbers.
Next: No competition for Locke yet
When it comes to completing insanely difficult obstacle courses, rock climbers have a huge advantage over punters. If there were a punting part of the obstacle course, my money would be on Kluwe. There’s no punting part so I’m going with the rock climbers. Finger strength is everything on American Ninja Warrior. Leg strength is less important. Ability to write sweary op-ed pieces on Deadspin also not a factor.
Mad props to Kluwe at any rate. He had to know he would probably go out there and make a fool of himself, but he didn’t let that stop him. One thing about Kluwe, he’s never been afraid to make a fool of himself.
