The Minnesota Vikings will meet with former Raiders free agent running back Latavius Murry after missing out on signing Eddie Lacy.

Since the Minnesota Vikings have addressed the offensive line issues by signing two offensive tackles during free agency, the next spot the team seems intent on filling is the running back position.

Earlier this week, former Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy was brought in for a workout by the Vikings, but he left without a deal and ended up signing a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks worth $5.5 million.

Now, Minnesota shifts its attention to a former Oakland Raiders running back. It has been reported by many sources including the Star Tribune that the Vikings are going to kick the tires on Latavius Murray.

More from The Viking Age

Murray appears to be one the of the fan favorites to bring to Minnesota since it appears as though the team could move on without both Adrian Peterson and Matt Asiata.

The Star Tribune broke down some of Murray’s stats and situation with the Raiders:

"“Murray, a 230-pound back with good straight-ahead speed, rushed for 788 yards and a dozen touchdowns in 2016 behind one of the NFL’s top offensive lines. In 2015, he topped 1,000 yards. But the Raiders have not prioritized keeping Murray, who turned 27 in January.”"

The Vikings have been building a bruising offensive line of their own, picking up solid run blockers in Reiff and Remmers while still having Alex Boone, Joe Berger, and others available to man the interior of the group.
