The Minnesota Vikings will be well represented at WrestleMania this year, as two former training camp players will have major roles at the event.

Many fans of professional football couldn’t care less about the world of sports entertainment. The feats of athleticism and in-ring acting just don’t appeal to everyone. However, the crossover between the two mediums is definitely apparent, especially to Minnesota Vikings fans.

In fact, two former members of the Vikings preseason roster will once again be in premiere slots at “The Ultimate Thrill Ride” in professional wrestling, as they will compete at WrestleMania 33 on April 2, 2017.

By now, Vikings fans should know all about Brock Lesnar’s connection to the team. He was given a tryout where he allegedly suplexed a member of the Kansas City Chiefs during a joint team practice.

More from The Viking Age

Since then, Lesnar has moved on from the Vikings to find success in the WWE and UFC. However, the story going into WrestleMania is that “The Beast Incarnate” will get one final chance to defeat the one man he can’t beat: Bill Goldberg. To make that stakes even larger in that match, the WWE Universal Championship (which is defended on the Raw brand) will be on the line.

On the other hand, former Vikings training camp member Leati Joseph “Joe” Anoaʻi will be trying to establish himself as the biggest dog in the yard on the biggest stage of them all. Known better to fans as Roman Reigns, Anoa’i will be challenging The Undertaker, who is regularly one of the top draws for WrestleMania.

Reigns is struggling to endear himself to the WWE fans, and a big win over The Undertaker could give him some more momentum going forward.

WrestleMania can be seen on April 2, 2017 on the WWE Network. If you have not signed up for the WWE Network previously, a free 30 day trial can allow you to watch ‘The Ultimate Thrill Ride’ for free. Otherwise, a charge of $9.99 will be administered for the month.
