In his first season with the Minnesota Vikings, the running back is already planning to make many, many trips inside the end zone.

Coming off a 2016 season in which he rushed for a total of 12 touchdowns, new Minnesota Vikings running back Latavius Murray knows a thing or two about what it takes to get the ball into the end zone. The Vikings brought the running back in this offseason wtih hopes that he can continue to put points on the scoreboard for them in 2017.

For those who are currently preparing for the upcoming year in fantasy football, Murray recently made his case for why team owners should try their best to add him to their roster this season.

Due to Minnesota’s offensive backfield being a bit crowded this year, fantasy owners may be a little worried about taking a chance on Murray.

But since 10 of his 12 touchdowns in 2016 came on rushes of six yards or less, the Vikings are expected to rely on Murray as their goal line specialist this season. So anytime Minnesota gets near their opponent’s end zone in 2017, expect the Vikings to put the ball in Murray’s hands. The running back should have plenty of chances this year to put a smile on his fantasy owners’ faces.

Now, Murray is coming off an offseason in which he underwent surgery on his ankle. But he is expected to be ready to hit the field when Minnesota begins their training camp at the end of July.

The running back is also a good bet to be the starter for the Vikings when they open the season as his experience and talent should give him the advantage over fellow Minnesota running backs Jerick McKinnon and rookie Dalvin Cook.
