It hasn’t been easy for fans of the Minnesota Vikings and the team’s head coach MIke Zimmer acknowledged that in a recent interview with ESPN SportsCenter.

Fans of the Minnesota Vikings know quite a bit about heartbreak and disappointment. With the exception of the 1969 NFL Championship, the team has struggled to win in big game situations, failing to bring home a Super Bowl trophy.

The current head coach of the franchise wants to change all that. Upon arriving in Minnesota, Mike Zimmer spoke about how his goal with the team is the Super Bowl, and anything less under his tenure would be unacceptable.

Fast forwarding to 2017, his message hasn’t changed much. However, the coach has started to feel some of the pain fans have felt for nearly half a century and addressed that in a recent interview with Hannah Storm on ESPN SportsCenter.

Here is that interview as shared on the official ESPN website:

The Vikings head coach isn’t usually one to mince words. His words carry a lot of weight with fans, since he is known to speak frankly and candidly at every opportunity, even when that means talking about the rough history of the franchise.

Not only does he have the desire to deliver some big wins for the team, he from the interview, he sounds obligated to take this franchise to places it has never gone before.

"“The fans, the organization – I mean, I just feel like I have a lot of responsibility to an awful lot of people, and if I can help them in any way possible, then I’m going to do it.”"
