Former Minnesota Vikings guard Steve Hutchinson has been named as a finalist for induction in the 2018 class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
When thinking about some of the all-time great players who have suited up for the Minnesota Vikings over the course of the franchise’s history, some legendary athletes tend to slip through the cracks.
One such player is offensive lineman Steve Hutchinson. “Hutch” was one of the highest paid interior linemen in NFL history when he came to Minnesota and his excellent play have him on the edge of entering the league’s elite.
Here is the announcement of the Hutchinson being named a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame according to their Twitter account:
Steve Hutchinson played with the Minnesota Vikings from 2006-2011 where he was part the unit that helped Adrian Peterson lead the NFL in rushing yards in 2008. His bruising play at left guard combined with pass block ability raised the standard for play at the position.
Beginning his career with the Seattle Seahawks in 2001, “Hutch” stayed with the team until joining the Vikings in 2006. After leaving Minnesota following the 2011 season, he spent his final year in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans.
Here are just some of the accomplishments Hutchinson accomplished over his career:
- 5-time First-team All-Pro (2003, 2005, 2007–2009)
- 2-time Second-team All-Pro (2004, 2006)
- 7-time Pro Bowl (2003–2009)
- NFL 2000s All-Decade Team
