After it was revealed earlier this offseason that the Minnesota Vikings plan to exercise the fifth-year contract option for wide receiver Jordan Addison, the possibility of the team rewarding him with an extension in the near future suddenly became very real.
On Friday, believe it or not, the Green Bay Packers actually gave the Vikings a blueprint of a possible contract extension that they could offer Addison.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Packers and receiver Jayden Reed have reportedly agreed to a three-year extension worth $50.25 million. Reed is a player who has put up similar numbers to Addison during his time in the NFL, so his reported extension is likely along the lines of what Minnesota is looking to offer their own young wide receiver.

Pro Football Reference's Approximate Value metric (AV) "is an attempt to put a single number on the seasonal value of a player at any position from any year." In their three years in the NFL, Addison has a career AV of 21, while Reed has a career AV of 20.
So, the argument can be easily made that both have had similar pro careers since entering the league in 2023.
Of course, this all depends on Addison putting together another solid performance in the 2026 campaign, while also staying out of trouble off the field. The staying out of trouble part has certainly been easier said than done for the 24-year-old receiver during his tenure with the Vikings.
It's possible that Minnesota might even want Addison to take his game to an even higher level in 2026 if they're going to reward him with a lucrative extension. He's never finished a season with at least 1,000 receiving yards, but if he can do that in 2026, it will be much easier for him to land a new deal for the Vikings.
For now, any sort of extension for Addison will likely look very similar to what the Packers reportedly gave Reed on Friday.
