For the majority of us who weren't at the TCO Performance Center on Tuesday and Wednesday, we've seen about a grand total of four reps from new Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray during the team's OTA practices this week, and most of them were in slow motion.
However, this small sample size of Murray practicing with the Vikings (no pun intended, I promise) is apparently all that was necessary to persuade ESPN's Booger McFarland into declaring on an episode of "NFL Live" on Wednesday that the best offense in the NFL next season might be the one that plays its home games inside U.S. Bank Stadium.
"I think Kyler Murray has proven to be an above average passer. And then, here's the thing we're not talking about. When all else fails, he can use [his] athleticism and get out of the pocket.
I think this offense, this could be the best offense in the NFC, bar none. If Kyler Murray is the guy that we think he is, and he can go back to what he was in Arizona, this easily could be the best offense in the NFC."
Can Kyler Murray turn the Minnesota Vikings into an offensive juggernaut?
This is quite the take from McFarland, especially since Murray hasn't even suited up in a game with Minnesota yet. However, there are some actual metrics that back up what he thinks is possible for the Vikings and their new quarterback next season.
According to Sharp Football Analysis, Minnesota's 2026 schedule is the easiest in the entire NFL in terms of opposing pass defense efficiency. Meaning, no team's group of 2026 opponents were worse against the pass last year than the teams the Vikings will be facing next season.
In addition, Minnesota's 2026 schedule is also the third-easiest in the entire league in terms of opposing run defense efficiency, according to Sharp Football Analysis.
Basically, if Murray, Justin Jefferson, and the majority of the Vikings' top offensive weapons can stay healthy for most of the 2026 season, McFarland's take from Wednesday has a great chance of turning into an actual reality.
