Before the 2025 NFL season, it would have been difficult to find an expert who didn't think that Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson is in the conversation to be the best pass-catcher in the league.
After a campaign last season that saw the Vikings' star struggle to gain big yardage, the opinions on Jefferson have softened a little. Although it isn't his fault that Minnesota struggled to have solid quarterback play, his output in terms of yards and touchdowns left much to be desired.
There is hope that Justin Jefferson will bounce back in 2026 thanks to improved quarterback play and more stability on the offensive line, but until he proves that he can return to the statistics of previous seasons, he will likely not be at the top of positional lists.
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson is still one of the best wide receivers in the NFL heading into the 2026 season.
On Friday, FanSided's Jake Beckman shared an article ranking the top ten wide receivers entering the 2026 NFL season, and fans of the Minnesota Vikings might not like where Justin Jefferson landed on the list.
In the article, the popular Vikings pass-catcher earned the No. 3 spot on the list. He was behind only Seattle Seahawks' star Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Justin Jefferson's former college teammate and current Cincinnati Bengals standout Ja'Marr Chase.
Here is what Beckman had to say about Jefferson:
"There was a minute there when we all thought Justin Jefferson was quarterback agnostic; that no matter who was throwing the ball, he’d be productive… And then the 2025 season happened."
Catching passes from J.J. McCarthy, Carson Wentz, and Max Brosmer last season would bring any wide receiver's numbers down, but the Vikings star still managed to catch 84 passes for 1,048 yards and two touchdowns.
Now that the Vikings have a more established quarterback in Kyler Murray set to start in 2026, as well as Jordan Addison and Jauan Jennings to force defenses to be honest, it is highly unlikely his offensive output is that low again.
If the Minnesota Vikings' offense can be average in 2026, the team should be a playoff contender. Defensive coordinator Brian Flores did a great job keeping the team in games last year and got a lot of talent in the draft, so hopefully the offense can take the next step to help restore the prestige that used to accompany Justin Jefferson's name.
