It's hard to know how the Minnesota Vikings will fare during the 2025 NFL season. Last season saw the team somehow finish with a winning record despite incredibly inconsistent quarterback play and injuries up and down the roster.

Now, the Vikings are looking like one of the most difficult teams to predict. Can they get consistent quarterback play? Will the defense continue to keep the team in games? How much of a factor will injuries and player health be?

This is the time of year that experts put together power rankings to show off their NFL knowledge. Their power rankings put the best teams at the top while the struggling franchises settle toward the bottom.

How do the Minnesota Vikings stack up against the competition heading into the 2026 NFL season?

On Friday, NFL Spin Zone's Lou Scataglia shared an article ranking the teams that did not make the playoffs last season. Each season, 18 teams fail to make the postseason, and last year, the Minnesota Vikings were one of them.

Vikings fans are hoping the Vikings will find their way into the postseason during the upcoming season. However, of the 14 teams that didn't make the playoffs last season, Minnesota was ranked No. 7.

Despite optimism about Kyler Murray signing with the team as a free agent, there is still some skepticism about how they will fare.

"Murray has always been a productive passer, and had done so on some dysfunctional Cardinals teams. With the supporting cast on offense being above-average, and Brian Flores having command of the defense, this team is definitely in a good position to build off what was a surprising 9-win season in 2025 and perhaps get back into the playoffs in 2026."

Interestingly, Kyler Murray's former team is dead last in the power rankings. The Arizona Cardinals. In fact, the author even suggests that the NFC West squad could be the first 0-17 team in NFL history, meaning they could fail to win a single game this season.

A division rival owns the No. 1 spot among all non-playoff teams from last year. The Detroit Lions are a good team, and the NFC North will be a war zone of great football this season. Those division games will be essential to making the postseason, and with the Minnesota Vikings being ranked under the rest of the teams in the division, it could be an uphill battle for Kyler Murray and the team in 2026.
