The Vikings didn’t only get beat Sunday by Tennessee, they got pretty beat up (that’s what happens when you play a dirty team like the Titans). The worst injury was to E.J. Henderson who had to leave the game with dislocated toes – which sounds about as painful as anything I’ve ever heard of (except getting your junk caught in a wood-chipper). E.J. returned to the game for awhile – he’s such a bad-ass – but finally had to surrender to the agony. Brad Childress admitted he’s clueless concerning the injury and how long it might keep E.J. out. “We [...]

NFC North Breakdown: Week 4
(Dan Zinski writes for The Viking Age, which is FSB’s Minnesota Vikings blog. Representing the rest of the NFC North are Bear Goggles On, Lombardi Ave. and SideLion Report.)
The division tightened up this weekend, with the Packers losing on the road and the Bears pulling out a tough home victory. The Vikings squandered a chance to pull into first place themselves, and the Lions…all they did was can their team president.
Chicago Bears (2-2):
Looking Back: A 24-20 home win against Philadelphia. The Bears had plenty to prove after blowing late leads two weeks straight. Their embattled defense rose to [...]
Mad Chilly
Coach Brad Childress was unamused by the flood of gaffes that led to the Vikings‘ 30-17 defeat at the hands of the no-account dirtball Tennessee Titans. Especially irksome were the numerous turnovers, which helped the Titans build a big first-half lead. “Turnovers are the No. 1 statistic in this business,” Childress said. “I thought they had a belief in the certainty coming down here that we would win this football game. It’s disappointing to not only me, but to our football team.”
Childress also didn’t appreciate all the penalties, many of which led to difficult down-and-distance situations. “To beat yourself and [...]
Gus Frerotte has called out Titans defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch over a low hit that left the Vikings‘ QB curled up in an agonized ball on the LP Field turf. “It was a direct shot,” Frerotte said. “That just isn’t called for in this game. To take and just spear somebody like that. That’s pretty ridiculous. I mean, the guy plays hard and he goes all out, but he wants to do those kind of things.
“I’ve been playing this game a long time and that’s no different than a guy coming off the side and hitting you in the [...]

Titans 30, Vikings 17
Self-Inflicted Wounds
The Vikings are 1-3 after a mistake-laden 30-17 loss at the hands of the Tennessee Titans. Actually, “mistake-laden” may be a bit of an understatement. Gaffes, errors and self-inflicted blows defined the game for the Vikings, who were trying to get back to .500 after starting the season 0-2. It began early, when Naufahu Tahi fumbled the ball over to Tennessee at their 37, setting up a touchdown to give the Titans a 10-0 first quarter lead. A 28-yard Adrian Peterson touchdown run got it back to 10-7 – then Peterson went from savior to goat by coughing up [...]
Game Thread – Vikings vs. Titans
First off the inactives. For the Vikings: Ray Edwards has been deactivated and Otis Grigsby will start at left defensive end. Edwards injured his shoulder in the Carolina game, briefly left, then returned. Brian Robison is expected to see time at left end as well. Also…special teams ace Vinny Ciurciu is out with a knee injury. Thomas Tapeh, one of the Vikings’ off-season signings, will also be inactive – what a loser signing that has turned out to be. Madieu Williams, Marcus McCauley, Drew Radovich and Jeff Dugan will also not dress. Sidney Rice will play but not start.
The Titans’ [...]
