According to Vikings.com, Peters led the Roughriders last year with 78 tackles. He also had 3 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 2 interceptions. Can you say “playmaker?”
The 6-3, 218-pound Peters went to college at Northwestern then played with the Iowa Barnstormers of the Arena Football League before spending three years in Canada. The Roughriders won the Grey Cup in 2013 with help from Peters’ five special teams tackles in the championship game.
Five special teams tackles in any sort of game is pretty damn impressive. Can you say “special teams monster?”
The Vikings have been busy scouting the CFL ranks this offseason, also plucking former Toronto Argonauts CB Jalil Carter. The Vikes of course missed out on one-time CFL receiver Duron Carter after a much-hyped process.
These CFL guys are well-adapted to the cold. Perhaps that is the thinking here. But probably not.
