Safety is among the Vikings’ biggest draft needs this year and already a potential target is making waves. Michigan State safety Kurtis Drummond (6-1, 200) turned some heads Wednesday afternoon as he took the practice field for the North team at the Senior Bowl.

The skinny on Drummond via Mike Jones of the Washington Post:
"Michigan State’s Kurtis Drummond looks like the best free safety here. He has good range and reacts quickly. Also looks like a hard hitter. One play, he read the quarterback and met Delaware tight end Nick Boyle in the flat and drilled him right after Boyle caught the ball, stopping him for no gain."
Several in attendance at the first couple practices thought highly enough of Drummond’s performance to post tweets:
Biggest hit I saw all day was from Kurtis Drummond who read the flats & got there fast for a big pop. He's flashed a few times for me so far

Predictions on this guy have him going everywhere from the 2nd round all the way to the 5th or 6th, so clearly there is disagreement about his pro prospects. If the last couple days are any indication, Drummond could end up a second rounder.
A hard-hitting safety with range and cover skills would look good alongside Harrison Smith. Let’s keep an eye on Drummond.
