A state of cold war will continue to exist between the Minnesota Vikings and star running back Adrian Peterson for at least a little longer.

According to the St. Paul Pioneer-Press, Peterson has informed the Vikings that he will not be on-hand for this week’s first round of voluntary OTA sessions:
"Peterson will remain at his home in Texas. The source couldn’t say for sure if Peterson will attend any of the team’s three OTA sessions but doesn’t expect he will."
Peterson reportedly has a $250,000 work out bonus that only pays out if he attends 90% of the team’s OTA and minicamp sessions. If he misses the entire first week of OTAs, he would forfeit the bonus.
It’s no big deal for a player of Peterson’s stature to skip out on voluntary OTAs…under normal circumstances. But circumstances are anything but normal when it comes to Peterson.
The Vikings have told Peterson they won’t trade him. Peterson is believed to no longer be seeking a trade, but wishes to have guaranteed money added to his contract.
How this will all end up is anyone’s guess. But for now, nothing really has changed. The Vikings’ remain firm in their stance regarding Peterson, and for the time being Peterson seems willing to lose money for the sake of sending a message.
