Robinson’s pectoral tear came amid what has turned into a rash of such injuries for the Vikings, who say they will review their strength program.
Last season the Vikings switched from machines to free weights and since then have seen four of their players suffer pec injuries, three during on-field action and one while training.
Robinson says that he needs time to heal but still thinks he can make it for the start of the regular season (via ESPN.com):
"“I’m going to shoot for it,” Robinson said. “I’m going to do as much I can, but in the end, I need to take my time and just let it heal.”"
A starter in 2014, Robinson was already in line for a reduced role this year after the acquisition of Terence Newman and the drafting of Trae Waynes. And this doesn’t help.
The Vikings are thin at cornerback now after Robinson’s injury and the suspension of Jabari Price, who will miss the first two games of the regular season.
The Vikings filled some of their depth need by signing former Eagles CB Josh Thomas. A UDFA like Justin Coleman may now have a better shot at making the team with Robinson’s injury and Price’s suspension.
