Four Minnesota Vikings players have been ruled out for Sunday’s game against Chicago but Adrian Peterson is not one of them.
In Friday’s final injury report, the Vikings ruled out TE Rhett Ellison (concussion), DT Sharrif Floyd (knee/ankle), LB Audie Cole (finger) and DE Justin Trattou (foot).
Ellison suffered a concussion in the Detroit game and was able to practice early in the week but failed to participate Thursday and Friday. Chase Ford may see his first action of the season Sunday with Ellison out.
Sharrif Floyd suffered an injury two weeks ago against Kansas City and had a small piece of cartilage removed from his knee. As of now there is no timetable for his return.
Audie Cole suffered a finger injury against Detroit. Brandon Watts has been signed off the practice squad to provide another option at linebacker.
Justin Trattou has been out for several weeks but when asked about his injury he indicated that he is getting close to returning.
The good news to report concerns Adrian Peterson. Today coach Mike Zimmer said he expects Peterson to play despite injuries to his finger, hip and ankle.
Peterson is listed as probable on the injury report.
More good news: WR Jarius Wright has returned to practice after going through the concussion protocol following a play on Sunday where he banged his head on the turf.
