How do you like the Vikings Offense now?
So…because I’m a Purple Homer; I went back and watched some of the Cowboys game…again. As I was watching said game a little ditty popped into my head and it goes a little something like this here: “How do you like me now? Now that I’m on my way. You might think I’m crazy for saying the Vikings offense has multiple ways to move the football and will make the playoffs. Livin’ on your computer screen…how do you like me now?” Sure, it’s a little wordy but it was really popular back in the day. I digress. [...]
Maybe Adrian Peterson’s Twitter Account Isn’t So Bad
About a month ago Vikings fans were outraged for Adrian Peterson’s Twitter antics. Instead of replying to his followers and interacting with them, he “retweeted” nearly everything sent his way. Our top blogger Dan Zinski wrote a post on it for those that want to give it another read. Just in the past week however two other elite running backs have taken to Twitter to do far worse things. Arian Foster of the Houston Texans recently Tweeted his followers “For those sincerely concerned, I’m doing ok and plan (to be) back by opening day. For those worried (about) your fantasy [...]
Remember last year when we all thought the Vikings were set at cornerback, and then thanks to an unfortunate personnel move and a couple injuries we suddenly weren’t? It looks like the team is facing a similar situation this year, only at linebacker instead of corner. Last year the trade of Benny Sapp, made to reinforce the receiver corps after Sidney Rice‘s hip surgery, and the subsequent losses of Cedric Griffin and Chris Cook to injury depleted the corner depth to the point where the team had no recourse but to desperation moves, including using Asher Allen more than they [...]
This kids is what we like to call a 2-fer. You get 2 Rant & Raves today for the price of 1. Today is the day a truckload of 30 somethings will take the day off to purchase and play the enigma, the iconic, the one, the only video game franchise that rules all other video games. That’s right people. It’s Madden 12 day. It is no secret that NFL players love to give the EA Sports crew a hard time over their player rankings. Remember a couple years ago when Whosyourmomma was going to protest EA [...]
Rant & Rave – Hurricane Irene & a balanced Vikings mind
In an effort to balance the minds of our Viking Age Nation minds. Here now is a post that does not mention the Vikings one time. But so as to not totally deprive you of something sports related, ESPN is mentioned once. Hurricane Irene has been given credit for 26 deaths. You’ll have to excuse me as I rant but most of them were just silly ways to go out. Some dudes decided it would be awesome to canoe down a flooded street. Another guy thought it would be totally rad to surf in Irene’s waves. I mean [...]
Monday RE:action
Monday Re:Action will make more sense when the regular season starts because, you know, the games are played on Sunday and thus our Monday Re:Action will discuss the game that was played the previous day. A few points of Purple Homerism – - Hello Berrian, nice to meet you. I have preached it to Vikings fans with a feverish voice! Berrian is worth the risk. The man can flat fly down the numbers and is by far the Purple’s best deep threat. It was a sight for these sore eyes to see 5 hook up with 87. Looking [...]
Christian Ponder To Start Final Preseason Game
During Leslie Frazier’s press conference today one announcement was made that will carry some weight going into the season – Christian Ponder will start the 4th and final preseason game versus the Houston Texans. As to how much weight this carries however is open for debate. The first two preseason games are normally seen as ironing out the kinks for both the first and second units, the third preseason game is more of a dry run where the starters play for at least a half (note that Joe Webb played before Ponder) and the final preseason game starters are almost [...]
Vikings Will Try Everson Griffen at Linebacker
Amid the usual Monday injury news, reports of guys missing practice for various reasons and other typical post-game tidbits can be found one interesting item: The Vikings will use Thursday’s preseason finale to look at Everson Griffen at linebacker, weak-side linebacker to be specific. Leslie Frazier confirmed this information on Monday (via Tom Pelissero), saying the decision “is not a reflection on Erin Henderson.” It bears noting however that Henderson was pulled for a play on Saturday in the middle of a drive and replaced with David Herron, a move that as far as I know has not yet been [...]
Let’s Build a stadium….
I was fortunate enough to win 2 tickets to see the Vikings vs Dallas this weekend. The tickets came courtesy of Minnesota Momentum
So Long Rhett Bomar
We normally wouldn’t write a blog post about a roster cut that was visible from miles away, however considering it’s a quarterback here we go — Rhett Bomar was cut today by the Vikings. Bomar’s chances of making the roster this year behind Donovan McNabb, Joe Webb & Christian Ponder were steep at best. They got even steeper when Bomar was arrested for driving under the influence. Bomar also never saw the field in the preseason and he’s going to have to hope another NFL team gives him a shot otherwise it’s finding another league to play in. What else [...]
