Forgive us if we sound like a bunch of broken records. Yes, it’s another post about quarterbacks. About 90% of what’s come out of Leslie Frazier’s mouth this offseason relates to the most important position in the game. And the indications are that this team prefers to draft a QB this offseason over bringing in a veteran. We’re also well aware that there is currently a lockout going on prohibiting trades and who knows what kind of free agency period we’ll have in this bizarre offseason. Leslie Frazier has made clear his desire to draft a quarterback this year, perhaps in the first round, perhaps with an eye toward making that draft pick the immediate starter. Rick Spielman has stepped in and declared that the Vikings won’t force it when it comes to drafting a quarterback. Instead, Spielman says, the Vikings will pick the best player available when their turn comes up at #12 in the first round. When a team has a glaring hole at quarterback, it’s natural for draft speculation about that team to be dominated by quarterback discussion. That has certainly been the case for the Vikings, who have further fueled that discussion by openly expressing their desire to draft a QB in the first or second round. With all player movement frozen, and the two sides in the labor battle engaged in mere petty squabbling, there’s really nothing to talk about right now but the draft. Chris Kluwe has his whiteboard out again. His target this time is NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who has received mucho criticism for the letter he sent out Thursday laying out the league’s final proposal to irate players. The letter reads: As you know, negotiations between the NFL Players Association and the clubs have not led to an agreement. Things ended on an ugly note between Randy Moss and the Vikings last year, but despite the negativity Randy says he would entertain returning to Minnesota for a third go-around in purple. “Just to be point-blank and answer the question, I would love to come back to Minnesota,” Moss told KFAN fill-in host and occasional Viking linebacker Erin Henderson during an appearance this morning (via Access Vikings). “I don’t know about what they have in place, their quarterback position. Adrian Peterson has experienced very little controversy during his NFL career. But that all changed today with one Yahoo! Sports interview. While speaking with Doug Farrar as part of a promotional appearance, Adrian made what can only be described as an incendiary remark about the current labor situation. Farrar asked him to discuss his position and Peterson started in with the usual strong rhetoric. Then things veered into the explosive. Chris Cook has spoken about what went down Saturday in Lynchburg. The Vikings cornerback admits he got into an altercation with a neighbor but denies ever brandishing a gun as was alleged. “[The neighbor] lives two houses down from me, we got into an argument, but nobody did anything,” Cook told the Pioneer Press. “I told him I wasn’t going to fight him. He was just trying to provoke me. There was no gun involved at all.” Nevertheless, the neighbor reportedly went before a magistrate to file a complaint against Cook, claiming a gun was produced during the confrontation. Police [...]

Another Viking player is in trouble with the law. Saturday evening cornerback Chris Cook was arrested by Lynchburg, Virginia police after reportedly brandishing a handgun during a fight. Cook was born in Lynchburg and attended college at the University of Virginia. Details are still spotty, so I guess there’s a chance this could turn out to be some kind of mistake. Leslie Frazier certainly hopes it’s all some kind of misunderstanding. After the Everson Griffen situation, he’s certainly tired of delivering sternly-worded lectures to his young defensive players.
